Making Powerful & Self-Nurturing Choices
This week I want to support you in building your awareness and trust of the wealth of resources that you have within yourself that you can call upon when life is challenging.
One way of doing this is to focus on making powerful choices that nurture your being and bring you to life with a zing. This allows you to put healthy possibility into your life as you state loudly to yourself and the world that this is your intention.
When we’re seduced or threatened by external circumstances, we lose our power. They gain power over us. With each choice we make to align ourselves with the energy of our soul, we empower ourselves.
This is how authentic power is acquired. It’s built-up step by step, choice by choice.
Our Choices can be conscious or unconscious.
Conscious choices are creative. They are about being real and authentic in everything that we do, in as much of our daily lives as possible. Unconscious choices are destructive. A form of self-abuse.
The reason we find making choices so difficult is because we’re terrified of making the wrong one again. A wrong choice isn’t necessarily a bad one. If you’d made an alternative choice, your life would have been different but not necessarily better.
So how do you make a conscious choice?
You gather as much information as possible. You weigh up the options. You consider the possibilities. You go inside and ask your inner wisdom. You pray for assistance from your angels, your guides and from the Universe.
Then you take a leap in the dark & hope you land on your feet. You live your choice
You did the best you could. That’s all any of us can do - nothing more.
Unconscious choices are made without intention. In her book, ‘Simple Abundance’ Sara Ban Breathnach calls these ‘coma choices.’ They are generally harmful to our well-being.
Making conscious choices helps in programming the mind to assist in finding what you want. Compiling a Choice List aids this process.
List all the things you choose to happen in your life from this day forward.
It’s best to start each item on your list with the words . ‘I choose to.’
Here are some examples that are on my list:
I choose to have joy and freedom in my life
I choose to have abundance in my life
I choose to be grateful for all I have in my life
I choose to have a home in Brecon
I choose to surround myself with healthy relationships
I choose to take two holidays a year
I choose to make writing my priority
When we make a choice list it helps to give some thought to what authentic success is for you – so here’s something else for you to ponder on this week. And remember, there is no right or wrong with this.
Authentic success is different for each of us.
What is it for you?
Here are some suggestions, to help you reflect on your answer. Make them your own, add, delete, or keep. This is about making your heart content and joyful.
Authentic success is:
Knowing that if today were your last day on earth, you could leave without regret
Knowing you’ve done the best you possibly can with what you have
Knowing that the best you can do is always good enough
Accepting your limitations
Making peace with your past
Feeling good about who you are
Celebrating your achievements
‘The life we want is not merely the one we have chosen and made.
It is the one we must be choosing and making’
Wendell Berry
So just to recap, the focus this week is on honouring your life, validating yourself, and making powerful and self-nurturing choices. These are all ways to strengthen your inner world so that you can find the courage, determination and persistence you need, to live your life, with your head held high.
Build the conviction that you have all the self-knowledge, self-assurance and faith, all the support you need inside yourself - to draw upon at any time you need it. You have an inner wisdom that can be relied upon when making your conscious, powerful and nurturing choices.
‘In my dream, the angel shrugged and said ‘If we fail this time, it will be a failure of imagination.’ And then she placed the world gently in the palm of my hand.’
