Making An Inspiration Collage
This is a powerful way to visually describe what really matters to you – the source of your vitality, coming from the heart rather than the head.
A ‘Vision Map’ for you to identify what is important to you right now and validate your passions.
It’s an opportunity for you to symbolically create in pictures the life you wish to generate for yourself. You may find the results surprising.
Making your ‘Inspiration Collage’ will highlight what is significant to you at this moment in time.
You will need:
a large sheet of paper or board
an assortment of magazines, postcards or other picture sources such as the Internet
crayons, paints and pens
glue and scissors
a few photographs of yourself that you like.
Go through your magazines and cut out the images that you’re drawn to, that speak to you about what you want to create in your life.
Choose the images or symbols that represent your longing, the things you’d like in your life. The ones that inspire you.
It’s very important that you don’t think too much about them. Just let your senses guide you.
Choose the colours that you’re pulled towards.
If you’re drawn to something that seems totally irrelevant, don’t cast it aside. Cut it out and use it. The meaning will come at a later point.
The key here is to play and not think.
Have fun and let your imagination take over. Don’t judge or rationalise. This is a fun exercise to do. Remember you’re not creating a work of art here.
When you’ve chosen your images, stick them onto your paper / board and create a collage of your new life.
Just let your imagination flow when you stick the chosen pieces down.
Remember this is not about creating a work of art.
Add any drawings or shapes you wish to make.
Choose some photographs of yourself that you like. Put yourself somewhere in this creation of your future, to help make it real. Seeing is believing.
When you’ve finished, put it in a place where you can look at it regularly. An ideal place is somewhere you can see it before you go to bed. Then your subconscious mind can work on it while you’re asleep.
Be aware of what comes to you in your dreams and make a note of them, as they can serve as a reminder of where your passions lie and what is important to you at this stage.
What you have created is a pictorial image of your vision.
A way of firing your imagination with an ideal scenario. Making your vision come to life.
After a day or two reflect on your collage and ask yourself these questions as a prompt.
Write your observations in your journal so that you can refer back to them.
Overall what does this collage mean to me?
What kind of energy / feelings do I have when I look at it?
What do my images represent?
Am I surprised by any of the images I was drawn to and have included, and if so what do they mean to me?
Have I learned anything new about myself from this collage?
