Positive Affirmations for Self Acceptance
Using this Positive Affirmations tool can help us deepen our levels of self-acceptance.
Our inner core of self-acceptance helps us to be authentic with ourselves, by honestly acknowledging our true feelings, beliefs and values. We accept ourselves exactly as we are, without wanting to be different.
We are all unique human beings doing the best we can to be at peace with ourselves, with all our parts - the beauty and the joy, the wounds and the sadness.
When you are experiencing self-doubt and those voices are telling you that you should be different than you are, try using positive affirmations.
I write my favourite affirmations on small yellow cards, which I carry around with me in a cloth wallet. I can often be found in a toilet, reading them out to myself, when in need of some well-being medicine.
I find them a welcome antidote when I’m feeling strung out by the vicissitudes of life. A self-nurturing ritual that can become a soothing habit.
Here are some affirmations that I use to lift my spirits when I’m feeling low and finding self-acceptance difficult.
Make them your own. Choose the ones that resonate with you, discard the rest. Experiment with repeating them out loud to yourself at the beginning of each day, until they take hold in your heart and you can truly believe them.
I am a unique and precious human being, doing the best I can to grow in wisdom and love.
I am in charge of my own life.
I am responsible for my own feelings and behaviour.
My number one responsibility is my own well-being.
I refuse to feel inferior as a result of the attitudes and opinions of others.
Look how well I am doing.
Trust that still, small voice that says ‘This might work and I’ll try it.’
I am an amazing person.
I approve of myself.
I focus on my strengths.
I may not be perfect but parts of me are excellent.
I aim to make the best of who I am.
No one can steal my hope.
I gently do one thing each day to move forward with my life.
When I am scared to fail, I proceed anyway.
No matter what happens, I will not give up on myself.
I am important as I am.
I do matter.
My hope is precious.
I am loved as I am right now.
When I’m feeling small and helpless, I remind myself that there is no limit to my potential.
I am finding a different way that works.
Each day, I do at least one thing that makes me feel good.
I allow the present moment to be exactly as it is.
I remember that I always have a choice, no matter what the circumstances.
I am kind and gentle towards myself.
I live one day at a time.
I do first things first.
I accept the times I can only squeak to the world with my mouse voice.
I celebrate the times I find my power and can roar to the world.
I am a powerful and capable person.
There is always a new beginning and a different end.
It’s OK to ask for help when I need support.
I can choose to act with courage, integrity and dignity.
I am capable of developing and maintaining healthy relationships.
I listen to the voice within and trust myself.
I remind myself that I am richly blessed with all that I have in my life.
I walk with patience the road that lies ahead.
I am worthy of receiving joy.
I can say ‘No’ to respect myself and my boundaries.
I’ve given you 40 so you can pick and choose the ones that resonate with you. I don’t actually carry all 40 in my cloth wallet! I use different ones for different circumstances, depending on how I’m feeling.
I hope that you find some of these affirmations of use in building your levels of self-acceptance.
