Confidence From Affirmations
Last week I wrote about gaining more confidence. Using positive affirmations can help by feeding our minds with more assertive instructions. I’ve been using them a lot to focus my mind and build resilience.
I write my favourite affirmations on small yellow cards, which I carry around with me in a cloth wallet. I can often be found in a toilet, reading them out to myself, when in need of some well-being medicine.
Here are some that are my favourites. Choose the ones that work for you and write them down. Keep them on your phone or on cards that you can put in your bag and look at often when you feel your stress levels rising.
Repeat these affirmations, letting the calm in and the stress go. Make them your own. Choose the ones that resonate with you, discard the rest. Experiment with saying them out loud to yourself at the beginning of each day, until they take hold in your heart and you can truly believe them.
1. I let go of the pursuit of perfection.
2. My thoughts do not control me.
3. I invite joy into my life.
4. I love myself unconditionally.
5. I am capable of tackling obstacles.
6. I am no longer controlled by my fears.
7. I am doing the best I can.
8. I aim to make the best of who I am.
9. No one can steal my hope.
10. I gently do one thing each day to move forward with my life.
11. When I am scared to fail, I proceed anyway.
12. No matter what happens, I will not give up on myself.
13. I am important as I am.
14. I do matter.
15. My hope is precious.
16. It is healthy to set boundaries with others.
17. I take things one step at a time.
18. I deserve to be treated with respect.
19. I am allowed to say ‘No.’
20. I am finding a different way that works.
21. Each day, I do at least one thing that makes me feel good.
22. I allow the present moment to be exactly as it is.
23. I remember that I always have a choice, no matter what the circumstances.
24. I am kind and gentle towards myself.
25. I live one day at a time.
26. I am a powerful and capable person.
27. There is always a new beginning and a different end.
28. It’s OK to ask for help when I need support.
29. I listen to the voice within and trust myself.
30. I am grateful for what I have in my life.
I’ve given you 30 so you can pick and choose the ones that resonate with you.
I don’t actually carry all 30 in my cloth wallet! I use different ones for different circumstances, depending on how I’m feeling.
I hope that you find some of these affirmations of use in building your levels of self-acceptance and confidence.
